Sherkin Island Knitwear was established as a co-operative of 8 women in 1982
and is now a member of the Crafts Council of Ireland. The group produces hand
loomed knitwear in pure Donegal Tweed wool. The designs are both original and
classic and come in a variety of rich colours featuring hand fired matching
buttons. The emblem we use is derived from the ancient Gaelic name for Sherkin
- Inish Arcáin, meaning Island of Seapigs or porpoises.
